Cancun, Q. Roo.-Through the reform of several articulated to the Law on Protection and Animal Welfare of Quintana Roo, the deputy Eugenia Solís promoted this Wednesday before the State Congress an initiative to ban bullfighting and cockfighting, which give attention to the social demand to end the maltreatment of live animals.
In attention to the social demand, the president of the Human Rights Commission of the XV Legislature was informed that his initiative was a result of working with the humane Flor Tapia, with the aim of ensuring decent treatment for animals and to create social awareness to prevent the behavior of cruelty to the same.
The legislator removing pan reported that he is already working on the Regulation for the protection of the animals to be sterilized.
He mentioned that among its reform proposals will increase the admonitions and sanctions, which will range from a warning, written reprimand, fines, and arrests of 36 hours.
For her part, Flor Tapia said that, it banned bullfighting, which dates back to 1529 in the new world, it is a myth that it will affect thousands of jobs and abandonment of any species, as happened with the cirqueros. And the same goes with the palenques.
He said that farmers are not dependent on the rearing of fighting bulls, but of other species.
