NEW YORK – The defenders of the rights of the animals found nine horses cadaveric and sick in a barn on Long Island, which generated outrage among the residents of the area.
The owner of the horses was accused of animal cruelty, said the defenders and the authorities.
The activists said that the horses were crammed into a stable deplorable in Blake Avenue, in the area of Bohemia.
The humane Society of Suffolk County reported that the animals were in the bones. His ribs could be seen through their skin and many have serious health problems that were not treated, reported the defenders.
Vanessa Costello, 29-year-old and a resident of Nesconset, faces charges of animal cruelty. The woman due to appear in court on the 31st of August.
It is not immediately clear if the accused has a lawyer.
The horses were moved to a stable, local, where they will receive medical treatment.
