In order to ensure the protection of citizens and prevent diseases in animals, the governor of Quindio, through the secretariat of Health, held every Friday, free of charge, brigades of rabies vaccination for the canines and felines in 11 municipalities of Quindio.
“This initiative aims to prevent the spread of the virus in the department and foster responsibility and care of animals by their owners. In the month of march were vaccinated a total of 1,189 animals between dogs and cats in the municipalities of Buenavista, Calarcá, Circassia, Córdoba, Filandia, Génova, La Tebaida, Montenegro, Pijao, Quimbaya and Salento”, said José Jesús Arias Guzmán, professional of the secretariat of Health.
The official also said that from 2007 to January of 2017, there have been reported cases of rabies in humans transmitted by pets in the department of Cundinamarca, causing the death of several people, why were the alarms in the country.
Likewise, Julián Álvarez Orozco, director of the foundation for the protection of animals Earth’s Crust, said: “I Think that is excellent work that is being done with projects to benefit the pets and owners who do not have the resources to perform this type of procedures.”
Finally, from the departmental administration extended the invitation to the owners of animals older than three months, who have not been vaccinated or who have not received the dose more than a year ago, to be closer to the hospitals and city halls of each municipality, with the objective of maintaining healthy and healthy to your pets.
