With total success took place the eleventh version of the Half Marathon TPS Valparaíso 2017, organized by Terminal Pacifico Sur Valparaiso (TPS), which received more than 3,000 runners on a Terminal extended and renewed, with all its new cranes operational, providing a unique opportunity of getting to know the port that was very much appreciated by the competitors.
Oliver Weinreich, general manager of TPS, said, “it has been a pleasure as every year. It is the eleventh time that we do this and, as always, came out beautiful, the day accompanied us, we had more than 3 thousand runners, Valparaiso was the party, joined the city, the port, the hills, was very cute. The challenge continues forward, we intend to continue with this run so that next year we will convene again to another circuit, because this deserves to be made for Valparaiso, and we feel very proud to do so”.
The activity on this opportunity, joined a campaign for the benefit of the Corporation Carlos Puelma Kisses, humane Society of Valparaiso, consisting in the delivery of 2 pounds of pet food for each person registered in the run, donated by the brands, Master Dog, Master Cat, totalling 8 tons of food to the kennels, Chile’s largest, which has more than 500 animals.
Marina Gonzalez, president of the institution, welcomed “that the great company TPS we have been favored with this marathon, with the delivery of food for our animals. I am happy and extremely grateful. We consume more than two tonnes a month of food, then, of course, that this contribution is magnificent”.
The event started at 8: 30 a.m. with the start of hundreds of children who participated in the circuit of 2k, to give way then, at 9 am, at the starting of the proofs of 10k and 21k, which led to a true tide green who walked the 5 berths, along more than 1,000 meters of quay, under the gantry cranes of more than 100 metres in height and the container yard of the dealer’s Terminal 1 Valparaíso.
The tour continued then to avenida Errazuriz and then Altamirano; and in the case of the test longest, going up a long tour through Playa Ancha, ending in Plaza Sotomayor, where stood the podium.
Luis Alarcón, winner of the 21k, he stressed that “it is the fifth time that I participate in this half marathon, and now finally I got the first place. It is a good competition because, as they are pure climbs, serves to prepare for other races. The first six or ten miles are easy but then come all the hills, ups and downs. Very good organisation, the circuit is very good and well signposted.”
In the general category, 10-K, the winners were Daniel Estrada, and Light Red; in both, in the general category, 21 K, the first place male went to Luis Alarcón, and ladies, Carla Saez.
