Nemo, a dog’s life at the Elysée – euronews

The French president Emmanuel Macron has adopted a dog cross breed labrador and grifón which has been christened Nemo. In a few days, the dog, which has not yet integrated the protocol has become the king of the palace.

Comes out to greet ministers, heads of Government and ambassadors, and is presented in the middle of the photo sessions.

Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte decided to resort to an adoption in a shelter of the humane Society.

The new pet of the Elysée palace received its name in honor of captain Nemo, the famous character from the jules Verne novel “Twenty thousand leagues under the sea submarine tour”, for which Macron feels a special predilection.

The dog, black in colour, and between one and two years of age, substitutes for Philae, the labrador of the former president François Hollande that the federation of former French fighters in Montreal and he gave in December 2014, and that he left the residence next to its owner last may.

The arrival of a can at the Elysée palace is practically a presidential tradition in France, as the former presidents Valéry Giscard d’estaing, François Mitterrand, Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy also had a labrador during his time in office.

The dogs of Chirac and Sarkozy, to name Maskou and Estrie, respectively, also came from Montreal, in your case offered by the Faculty of Veterinary medicine of the canadian city.
