The Association of Friends of the Animal Kingdom tierra del fuego (ARAF) took a further step towards the incorporation of basic knowledge to attend to the pets in situations of emergency; and a training which is unprecedented in the province that brought together more than 50 members of security forces and civil protection; proposal that will be repeated in the future, for the community in general. We also carried out a new journey of ‘Creating Awareness’, for school-age children. The holder of ARAF, Rosana Velez, assured that “we’re going to keep repeating and reinforcing activities, convinced that we must all incorporate the idea that you can live in harmony between people and the animal world”.
ore than 50 members of security forces and of civil protection of the Land of Fire, participated in by the last Wednesday of the first first-aid training canines, organized in conjunction between the Association of Friends of the Animal Kingdom tierra del fuego (ARAF) and the Provincial Institute of Regulation of Betting (IPRA), with the support of the Club Frenchis the End of the World that joined the initiative.
The training day was in charge of veterinarian James Fischer, in the hall of the IPRA, and was aimed at members of the security forces and civil protection, with the intention of expanding the dissertation to the whole of civil society in future meetings. These were addressed in the first place the mechanisms to recognize the emergency situation and determine the best way to act according to the case: hypothermia, poisoning, dogs hit by a car on the public road, eye injuries, cuts deep, and burns. In addition, they received instructions for the Resuscitation Cardio Pulmonary (CPR); methods of transportation of the animal to the veterinarian and first aid.
In dialogue with EDFM, the holder of ARAF, Rosana Vélez, said that “it was a very important day for all of us, and the city in general; a training which is unprecedented in our province, one that brings us the knowledge about how we should act when faced with an emergency to save the life of our animals”, and said that “in the coming weeks we will coordinate and we will announce the chosen date for the training is open to the community”, he announced.
Velez was appreciative of the opportunity, and thanked the accompaniment of “different areas of the Provincial Government; such as the Ministry of Public Works; Environment; Institutional Relations and Community and the Secretariat of Security, among others, have intervened to facilitate the realization of this training that we were managing a long time, with much enthusiasm, valued, and stressed “the readiness of the vet lecturer, who offered a training very complete and interesting”.
The holder of the ARAF noted that “from now on, the members of the various security forces and of civil protection who have participated, will be ambassadors and take the knowledge back to the institutions”, which mark “a resounding success for us”, was held.
Day ‘Creating Awareness’: 400 guys incorporate notions about responsible ownership
In another activity organized by the Association Friends of the Animal Kingdom tierra del fuego (ARAF) in conjunction with the Provincial Institute of Regulation of Betting (IPRA), last Friday, it was conducted a new workshop ‘Creating Awareness’, with the participation of 400 children of the School No. 22 in the ballroom of the IPRA.
“In the morning shift, we count with the participation of the Provincial Police, AFIP, Customs and the Prison Service; and in the early afternoon shift was present also the attorney Griselda Engelhard, representing the Association of Officials and Lawyers for Animal Rights (AFADA); Ada Luz Menendez on behalf of the Club Frenchis the End of the World; and ARAF,” said Rosana Velez, and appreciated that “the security forces attended to the animals that serve in each of the institutions, gave talks on awareness and contributed their experiences, meeting in a highly positive and productive,” he said.
Velez thanked the management team, teachers and pupils of the School No. 22 Bay Swallow; the members of ARAF; the IPRA; the Club of Frenchis; and “to the media, which encourages us to disseminate our activities,” he said. In addition, he appreciated “the support of the provincial Government, especially the minister Luis Vazquez, who helped us with the mics that moved the boys School to the hall of the IPRA, by enabling their participation in this activity as positive,” he said.
The holder of the Association of Friends of the Animal Kingdom tierra del fuego said, “we’re going to keep repeating and reinforcing this type of opportunities, because we are advancing at a good pace convinced of the importance of the boys to incorporate the conception that you can live in harmony between people and the animal world, will be the future ambassadors of this concept and you will be taken to their homes and peers,” he said Velez.
