So far this year, the Protective Association of Legal Animals (Prolean) has filed 18 complaints for child abuse and injury to animals to the Public Ministry, reported Claudia Anguiano, president of the association.

He stated that although the receivership of the city council would have to intervene in these cases, the moment has not shown interest in addressing this kind of topics.

“In the specific area of receivership, there is no interest to address these issues, from January to date, we have filed complaints with the Public Ministry, but these should have been submitted to receivership, despite the fact that they only have to send a subpoena to the parties involved but there is apathy,” he said.

The owner of Prolean cited as an example of the complaints filed by mistreatment the case of two canes macheteados in Villa de Reyes on December 10, 2016, as well as the case of five dogs being gunned down in Cerro San Pedro.

“It is disturbing cases of animal abuse, for example in Villa de Zaragoza there are donkeys who are subjected to torture at the hands of high school students, in Ríoverde continues to bestiality as in Valleys, these are only some of the cases that come to us, but there are surely more,” he concluded.
