Transitarte 2017, has doubled its budget and will present more than 150 … – The Nation Costa Rica

During three days and with more than 150 art shows, the thirteenth edition of the Summer Festival Transitarte will soak of culture to the entire population, josefina.

From 17 to 19 march, Transitarte shall be carried out as is customary in the area northwest of San Jose, accounting for 11 public spaces for the enjoyment of all.

Just to mention an example of your dense and attractive menu, the Transitarte will be opened by Malpaís, in a concert that will be held in the National Park, at 7 p. m.

The closing will not be left behind, because it will have as protagonist the band Somnambulist -in the Morazan Park (7 p. m.)- and the National Symphony Orchestra, which will be presented in the National Park at 6:30 p. m.

This year, the Municipality of San José will invest more ₡80 million in the long-awaited event, doubling last year’s budget, which according to its organizers only used ₡40 million.

“The activity of the Transitarte came at least and that’s why we’re trying to lift. Not only providing it with more funding, but of most days. For reasons that are unknown to me had been doing just a Saturday and Sunday; now starts from Friday,” said Johnny Araya, mayor of the capital.

Lilian Quesada, in charge of the artistic area of the city, said that the money will be invested in “pay to the participating groups, the power of which will be presented free of charge and the logistics involved in making the festival in the 11 set points”.

The Metal building (School Buenaventura Corrales), the Parque Morazán, Parque España, the National Park and the Promenade of the Ladies are among the public spaces as it is traditional to host the festival.

“Among the new spaces available to the subjected to light foot traffic adds to the street 15, the platforms located to the front of the School Metal and a corner of the Park Morazán, in which there will be dance. There will also be groups of travelling theatre and the park of the order of Malta, where will be located the canine Association,” said Quesada.

More than 200 artists, according to the organization will take hold of them throughout the weekend.

“This is the most important cultural event that we have in the summer, not only in San Jose but across the country. In the Municipality we believe in culture as a city without culture is a city without a soul. It is the engine of all the transformation that we are doing, starting with the rescue of public spaces”, said Araya.

“But the rescue of public spaces should not be just physical, it goes through a process of appropriation of the people in those spaces. And that’s why arises Transitarte, that as your word says it is the art in the middle of where people walk,” he added.

Quesada indicated that all the art activities were designed in different audiences: children, youth, adults, and older adults.

“We’ve greatly expanded the offer. There will be music, theatre, poetry, stand up comedy and food trucks adding to the gastronomic offer. It is very varied, because the bids that we received in the calls were many,” said Quesada.

“We say to all who come comfortable and with sunscreen because the schedule is very intense. We know that if they are going to stay all day,” he warned.
