WINSTON, Ore. – The Winston Police Department needs your help to get its K-9 program up and running.
The department is holding a fundraiser this week to help cover the cost of the program. Tickets are sold out, but the department is still looking for donations.
They need to buy a kennel and other equipment for the K-9 patrol car.
“In Douglas County, we only have a couple and that’s not enough,” said Winston Police Chief Brandon Sarti, “and it’s an extra tool for us to use to help combat the issues of drugs.”
The department has already purchased a dog and hopes to have the program ready to go by January.
You can make donations to the Winston police K-9 program at the Umpqua Valley Canine Association.
